- 자연과 엮어내기
한강과 탄천이 만나는 수공간을 재정비하는데 있어서 가장 중요한 것은, 수변 공간의 자연 생태계를 그대로 회복시키는 것이다. 이 전략은 기존의 도시와 탄천 제방 사이의 경사로 인한 물리적 경계를 허물고 토착 식생을 다시 되돌려 놓음으로써 가파른 가장자리를 새롭게 정비하고, 수변 생태 공간의 질을 개선하여 도심 환경과 탄천 사이의 물리적 장벽을 완화한다. 보행자의 방문과 여러 도심 이벤트를 끌어들이기 이전에, 이곳의 자연 환경 조건에 다시금 활기를 불어넣어야 하는 것이다. 이는 하천의 생물 서식환경을 복원하여 아름답고 자연스러운 식생 공간을 조성해 도시 내 특색있는 명소로서 시민의 방문을 장려하고 국제교류복합지구와의 네트워크도 강화한다.
동선과 엮어내기
국제교류복합지구에서 중요한 거점이 되려면, 수변 공간이 시민들을 끌어 들여야하며, 이를 위해서는 보행 접근성이 높아야 한다. 이 전략의 하나로서 조경적 측면에서 지형을 완만하게 개선하는 동시에 환경의 전반적인 품질을 향상시키는 것이다. 그 다음, 자연스런 곡선형 길로 이루어진 보행 시스템을 통해 탄천에 의해 분리된 양안을 연결하며, 이는 도심을 가로지르는 보행교로 때로 합쳐지면서 탄천 좌우 제방의 보행동선을 통합시킨다. 도심에서 사이트로 접근하는 보행 네트워크가 수변 공간 내 각종 주요 시설들을 보행로로 구분 없이 연결지음으로써 천변내 주 보행동선을 형성한다.
프로그램과 엮어내기
국제복합교류지구의 도시적 활동을 수변공간으로 확장하기 위해서 다양하고 흥미로운 프로그램을 전략적으로 제안하고자 한다. 이 프로그램들은 기본적으로, 보행길이 입체적으로 엮여 지면서 만들어 지는데, 주변의 맥락과 다양한 방문객의 요구에 대응하도록 디자인 되었다. 이 전략적 프로그래밍은 공원을 24시간 활기차고 안전한 공간으로 만든다. 또한, 철거 예정인 기존 토목구조물을 창의적으로 재활용하여, 시민들을 위한 공간으로 제공하고자 한다.
인터위븐 파크
수변공간과 도시공간의 경계 허물기, 안전하고 효율적인 보행연결 구축하기, 매력적이고 주변맥락에 대응하는 공원 프로그램 만들기, 이 세가지 전략은 프로젝트의 중요한 전제가 된다. 세가지 전략은 서로 엮여서 대상지를 국제교류복합지구의 중요한 공공공간으로 작동하게 한다. 이렇게 하여, 공원은 지구의 중심으로 또한 연결점으로서 생태적 요구와 도시적 요구를 모두 만족시키는 사례로 서울의 공원 정책의 주요한 이정표가 될 것이다.
The Weave
Interweaving with nature
Essential to the redevelopment of the Han River and Tancheon Stream junction riverfront area, is the renewal of its natural riparian ecosystem. This concept softens the physical slope barrier between the built environment, and the Tacheon Stream's banks by reintroducing carefully selected native vegetation, refining steep edge conditions, and improving water and landscape ecology. Before it can be visitable, and attract activity, the terrain, landscape and environmental conditions must be revivified. This restores the river habitat, to create a beautiful, natural bouquet that will blossom dramatically to support visitor attractions that celebrate this unique space, weaving it into connection with the greater Seoul International District.
Interweaving with access
To become a vital destination in the Seoul International District, the riverfront must attract people, and to do this, it must become fully accessible. Part of this strategy relies on intervention at the landscape level, improving the gradation of the terrain, while also improving the overall quality of the environment. Next, a meandering path system sutures the divide created by the Tancheon Stream, drawing its two banks into formal connection with a striking pedestrian bridge spanning the stream. Access points from the existing urban network to principal programmatic activators, form key in-roads to a non-hierarchical system of meandering paths within the river park.
Interweaving program
Also integral to the riverfront park becoming a vital destination within the Seoul International District, is the strategic insertion of a diverse and compelling program. This diverse range of program is strategically dispersed close to relevant urban adjacencies to enable a clear physical connection through the path system. It will also nurture community cultural and social development. This strategic dispersal of program also ensures that the riverfront park is activated day and night, facilitating safety, minimizing criminal activity and promoting a vibrant, rejuvenating public space. New park program also makes use of existing infrastructure to give familiar features new purpose.
Interwoven park
Three operations sit at the heart of this concept: blurred boundaries of riverfront and urban fabric; enhanced accessibility and connection; an attractive and relevant park program. Through the weaving actions of the park's concept, it will revitalize and revivify this underused public space, to become a core and connected jewel of the Seoul International District. This way, it will form a focal point for the district, and serve to generate activity, setting a strong precedent for similar ecological and public revitalization in the city.
